Today, Star Wars Episode VIIII was officially named Star Wars: The Last Jedi.  The Last Jedi is the second in the newest Star Wars trilogy.  It is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017.

The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson.  It is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman with executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.

The Last Jedi is rumored to be much darker than The Force Awakens.  This would Mirror how Empire Strikes Back turned much darker than Star Wars (A New Hope).  At this point, the much darker theme is only speculation.

There is a ton of speculation in the geek community about the name. What is the meaning?  Does it refer to Luke being the last?  Isn’t Rey a Jedi? Will Luke die?  Lots of questions and no answers at this moment.

Stay Geeky My Friends!
