The voice acting community is mourning the loss of a true legend. Tom Kane has passed away at the age of 64. Following a severe stroke in 2020 that ultimately forced his retirement, Kane sadly succumbed to complications arising from the event.
Beyond his incredible talent behind the microphone, Tom was a deeply devoted husband and father. His immense heart extended well beyond Hollywood; he and his wife raised nine children—three biological, and six brought into their loving home through adoption and foster care.

He served as the recognizable announcer for the hit sitcom Who’s the Boss? and brought prestige to the silver screen by announcing the Academy Awards on four separate occasions.
Geeks and gamers alike will instantly recognize his vast library of work. His notable roles included:
-

-
The Narrator in the 2011 The Smurfs movie
-
Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings video game series
