Pam Lifford Named President of Warner Bros. Global Brands and Experiences

In a Press Release, Kevin Tsujihara, Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros, announced Pam Lifford’s new role as President of Warner Bros. Global Brands and Experiences.  This is a new business unit to “align strategies and increase consumer engagement across the company’s key brands and franchises.”  She will over see the new division with the “responsibility for Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC, Themed Entertainment and a new Global Franchise team”.

Lifford does have an extensive background in management.  She brings 25 years of experience in the “consumer products industry”.  She was at Disney for 12 years including a stint as Executive Vice President of their consumer products team.

This move is meant to streamline all of the WB related licensed characters and where they are experienced.  She is in charge of most of the fandom characters including DC Comics characters, Looney Tunes, and Hanna Barbera.  This will include any form of the entertainment from comics, to theme parks to movies to television.  The exception to this is the Harry Potter related entertainment which is not under her umbrella.

DC Comic fans will be interested to know that “The day-to-day operation of DC will continue to be run by Jim Lee, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer, and Dan DiDio, Publisher, who both now report to Lifford.”  DiDio and Lee have a new boss when it comes to the comics and entertainment side of DC Comics.  The level of control will she exhort over the DC Comics head duo remains to be seen.  After the perceived failure of many DCEU movies, one would think she will have a strong opinion on movie projects going forward at the minimum.  Will this be a good thing or a bad things for fans?  Only time will tell.
