DC Studios- Clayface Lands In Theaters This October

DC Studios is taking a terrifying turn into full-blown body horror. Written by modern horror maestro Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass) and directed by James Watkins (Speak No Evil), the standalone villain thriller Clayface is officially heading to the big screen.

Ditching the standard superhero formula, the film is described as an R-rated, tragic body-horror tragedy in the vein of David Cronenberg’s The Fly.

From Leading Man to Living Clay

The film follows Matt Hagen (played by Tom Rhys Harries), a rising Gotham street kid who manages to claw his way into becoming a Hollywood leading man. But Hagen’s dream life comes crashing down when a brutal Gotham crime boss leaves him permanently disfigured.

Desperate to save his career and his face, Hagen turns to an experimental genetic modification procedure led by a fringe scientist (Naomi Ackie). The treatment initially restores his appearance—until a nightmare side effect causes his body to mutate into a malleable, shape-shifting mass of living clay. Driven mad by his hideous transformation, Hagen unleashes a dark path of bloody revenge across Gotham City.

The stacked cast also stars Max Minghella, David Dencik, and Eddie Marsan, with Batman’s Matt Reeves producing alongside DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
