James Gunn Fired from Guardians Vol 3

James Gunn, writer and director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and 2, has been fired from writing and directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.  Disney release Gunn after old Twitter posts came back up and were found to be not acceptable.

Gunn made provocative tweets which most were from 2008 and 2009, that have resurfaced a decade later. Some of his tweets surrounded controversial topics such as pedophilia and rape. Many took Gunn’s old tweets as jokes but others found them offensive.

Gunn has been a harsh critic of President Trump. It is expected some supporters of President Trump dug up these old tweets.

Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn stated, “The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.”

Gunn has responded by tweeting, “Many people who have followed my career know, when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo. As I have discussed publicly many times, as I’ve developed as a person, so has my work and my humor…It’s not to say I’m better, but I am very, very different than I was a few years ago; today I try to root my work in love and connection and less in anger. My days saying something just because it’s shocking and trying to get a reaction are over.”

Kids, be careful what you post on social media. It can come back up a decade later. Gunn is evidence of this.
