The legend of 007 is getting a fresh start. IO Interactive, the masterminds behind the Hitman “World of Assassination” trilogy, has officially unveiled 007 First Light. This isn’t the polished, untouchable commander we know; this is an origin story that puts you in the shoes of a 26-year-old James Bond during his most reckless days.
A Rookie with a License to (Almost) Kill- Portrayed by Patrick Gibson, this younger Bond is a Royal Navy air crewman recently recruited into MI6. Players will navigate his journey from a volatile recruit to a cold, calculated 00-agent. Unlike previous entries, First Light focuses on “earning” the status, blending IO’s signature stealth-action mechanics with high-stakes cinematic storytelling.
Enter the Pirate King- The stakes are higher than ever with the introduction of the game’s primary antagonist: Bawma, played by Grammy winner Lenny Kravitz. Bawma is the “Pirate King” of the black market, ruling over a fortified, high-tech stronghold in Mauritania known as Aleph. The battle between Bond’s raw instincts and Bawma’s unpredictable charisma promises to be the centerpiece of the narrative.
Release Date and Platforms- After a slight delay to ensure maximum polish, 007 First Light is set to launch on May 27, 2026. In a massive win for fans, the game is confirmed as a day-one release for the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside current-gen hardware.
