Above is a picture of Emma Stone on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Pay close attention to the her outfit. This is a classic outfit from the Amazing Spider-Man comics.
As you can see in the image above and below, this is the same outfit that Gwen is wearing when she is killed by the Green Goblin.
There is a ton of speculation about Gwen dying in the next movie because of this outfit and the fact she is standing in front of water. The rumors of her demise is blanketing the internet. This seems to be highly unlikely to me. Here are the reasons why I don’t think Gwen will die in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
1) This movie series is suppose to be a trilogy. It would take a brave vision to kill off one of the stars of the trilogy during the second movie.
2) The Green Goblin is not in the second movie. This movie already has 2 bad guys (1 too many in my book). I have read the argument that they could use any bad guy to kill the beloved Gwen. But if you are going to stick to the pain staking details of her outfit, then I believe they will stick to the details of who kills her.
3) With two villains in this sequel, there will be a ton going on anyway. I can’t imagine that they will attempt to crowd in the Death of Gwen into this full movie.
4) My Spidey sense is not tingling. I believe I would have a bad feeling about this movie if they were going to pull this stunt. It is not fool proof by any means but I often have feelings about these things.
5) (Added on 5-14-13) The movie studio is getting a ton of free press by posting this picture. The internet is a buzz about this sequel to the lackluster first movie. This easily could be just a publicity stunt by the genius PR guys to get Spidey fans talking about this movie. I think this being a PR stunt is more likely than Gwen’s death in ASM2.
Not to be sadistic…but I could see a great twist with her death.
Have it come at the very end of the movie. Literally just when it seems all is done and all is well.
Then the Goblin swoops in and Stacy’s dead.
Fade out.
Boom.
You have a built in buzz for part 3.
I already had some major issues with the first Amazing Spider-Man. The one thing I thought they nailed was Gwen. If you kill her in the second one like the lame death of Captain Stacy, then I might have start a campaign against any further Spidey sequels.
