Jumanji: Open World Brings the Game into Reality

Back in 1995, Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst taught us all the Golden Rule of board games: once you start rolling the dice in Jumanji, you finish the game—no matter how many rhinos stampede through your living room.

Decades later, the franchise successfully rebooted for a new generation by swapping the ancient board game for a dusty 1990s video game console. Across Welcome to the Jungle and The Next Level, our high school heroes were sucked into the digital wilderness as larger-than-life avatars. But for the grand finale of the trilogy, the tables are completely turned.

In Jumanji: Open World, the broken console glitches, causing the game to break free and unleash its chaotic jungle physics, deadly wildlife, and video game mechanics directly into the real world. Even wilder? The avatars themselves—stuck in “demo mode”—break out into reality, forcing the original teenagers to team up face-to-face with their own game characters to shut Jumanji down once and for all.

One Last Adventure with a Stacked Cast

Director Jake Kasdan returns to helm this final chapter alongside an all-star ensemble:
