I’ve loved the X-Men for as long as I can remember. I first discovered the comics in the early 80s, and that era remains my definitive version of the team—the X-Men, the New Mutants, and X-Factor all woven together into one incredible mutant saga. At the heart of it all was the legendary Chris Claremont, whose 17-year run helped define these characters in ways that still resonate today.
Of course, it wasn’t just the writing that made it iconic—it was the art. The unforgettable styles of Dave Cockrum, John Byrne, and Jim Lee didn’t just illustrate the X-Men—they brought them to life, making every page feel larger than life and packed with energy.
Then came the 90s, and everything changed again.
X-Men: The Animated Series took that beloved era of X-Men storytelling and delivered it to millions of fans around the world. For an entire generation, this was their introduction to mutants, and even today, it stands as one of the greatest comic book adaptations ever made outside of the comics themselves.
Now, that legacy continues in a big way.
X-Men ’97 picks up right where the classic series left off, serving as a true sequel that honors everything fans loved while pushing the story forward.
