The rain-soaked, neon-lit future of Blade Runner is returning—this time on the small screen.
Blade Runner 2099 is an upcoming eight-episode miniseries headed to Amazon Prime Video, continuing the legendary science-fiction universe first brought to life by Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner (1982) and later expanded in Blade Runner 2049 (2017). The franchise is based on Philip K. Dick’s groundbreaking 1968 novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, a work that helped define the cyberpunk genre and inspired decades of science-fiction storytelling.
Set fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the new series promises to take fans even deeper into a future where the line between human and artificial life has become increasingly blurred. While details about the story remain under wraps, the first trailer showcases the franchise’s signature blend of towering cityscapes, advanced technology, mysterious replicants, and philosophical questions about identity and humanity.
For more than four decades, Blade Runner has remained one of the most influential science-fiction franchises ever created. Its dystopian vision has shaped countless films, television series, video games, and novels, making the return to this universe one of the most anticipated sci-fi events of the year.
Blade Runner 2099 is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 25, 2026, with all eight episodes of the miniseries being released on the same day.
