Movie Trailer: Frankenstein

Movie Trailer: Frankenstein

As a long-time fan of classic monster films, I’ve watched countless versions of the Frankenstein story—from the iconic 1931 Universal film to Mel Brooks’ brilliant spoof, Young Frankenstein. While these cinematic tales are amazing, they all share a basic premise that often deviates significantly from the source material.

I was shocked the first time I read Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein, and realized just how many liberties the film adaptations, especially the Universal classic, took with the story. For most people, the movie is the Frankenstein story, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

That’s why I’m incredibly excited for Guillermo del Toro’s new adaptation of Frankenstein!

Based on the trailers, this version appears to be much closer to Shelley’s original novel. The previews show intense scenes focusing on the creature’s hunt for Dr. Frankenstein and what happens when the lonely creature is out on his own. I’m truly looking forward to seeing del Toro bring this complex, emotional, and faithful version of the tale to life.

Frankenstein will have a limited theatrical run starting October 17, 2025, before its release on Netflix on November 7, 2025.
