I have been Spider-Man for for a long time. I remember when the black suit was in Amazing Spider-Man 252 and how cool it looked when I bought it. I have all of the issues where the Symbiote started betraying Spidey. I remember the horror when the suit escaped and bonded with Eddie Brook. These are all classic Spider-Man stories from the 80s.
As a fan of the Spidey, I would love a great version of Venom on the screen. Spider-Man 3 didn’t deliver it. Venom remains to be a villain and sometimes anti-hero in the Spidey world.
Sony has created their own Venom movie. This is a stand alone film. It doesn’t revolve around his hatred for Spider-Man. Below is the trailer.
I am not convinced that this is a good thing. It looks fun but how do you tell a Venom origin story without Spider-Man. Will it work? We will see but I am not a believer at this time.
