Grab your Scooby Snacks, because everyone’s favorite cartoon mystery solvers are officially getting a live-action, prestige makeover at Netflix.
The upcoming series, titled Scooby-Doo: Origins, has officially been locked in for an eight-episode order. Moving away from the classic, lighthearted cartoon antics, this live-action prequel is taking a slightly darker, more mysterious approach to how the iconic Mystery Inc. gang first formed.
The high-concept story takes place during a pivotal final summer at camp. When four starkly different teenagers set out to solve a terrifying supernatural murder, they discover the only witness to the crime is a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy.
Behind the camera, the series is in highly experienced hands. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level, Cowboy Bebop) created the show and will serve as the head writers, showrunners, and executive producers alongside Greg Berlanti.
