Hulk Hogan Passes Away at Age 71

Terry Bollea, who is better known by his stage name, Hulk Hogan, passed away today.  Emergency services were sent to his Clearwater Beach residence today for cardiac failure.  Bollea was transported to Morton Plant Hospital but was pronounced dead.

Bollea is survived by his wife Sky Daily and two children  Brooke and Nick.

Hulk Hogan helped take professional wrestling from a regional entertainment show to an international event.  Vince McMahan had a vision to make wresting much more than it was in the late 70s and early 80s.  With Hogan as his superstar, they broke barriers.  By the late 80s, everyone knew what professional wrestling was and most had watched at least one Wrestlemania.  Hogan was a superstar way beyond the universe of the World Wresting Federation aka  WWF (now WWE).   Hulk Hogan was on TV shows and movies and continued to have Superstardom.

He coined several terms that fans still can quote.  He called people, “Brother!” when talking to them.  He referred to himself as the Hulkster. His followers were a part of Hulkamania.  Some of his famous quotes are “Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?!”, “Say your prayers, take your vitamins, and you will never go wrong,”, and “Let me tell you something, brother!

Here is a throw back video leading up to Wrestlemania with Andre the Giant.

I was not a big wrestling fan before Hulk Hogan.  With his character, I became intrigued and enjoyed the fun entertainment.  Without Hulk Hogan, professional wrestling may never have come to masses and the billion dollar industry that it currently is.

Rest in Peace, Terry ‘Hulk Hogan’ Bollea. You will be missed.
