Tomorrow is the birthday of one of the great movie directors and writers, Mel Brooks. Brooks’ ability to use comedy to tell a story is amazing. He addressed numerous social issues with his comedies.
Many of the movies he made over the years couldn’t be made today. They wouldn’t be sensitive enough . Blazing Saddles alone would get a writer and director black balled for life in Hollywood in today’s culture.
Happy (one day early) Birthday Mr. Brooks. You have made me laugh over and over and over.
