With SDCC cancelled, or doing everything online, you would think that we wouldn’t see any new trailers for movies, but the long delayed “The New Mutants” movie gives us a new teaser that highlights each of the characters and their powers, with a big focus on Illyanna Rasputin as Magik. Of course we are still talking about a film that has been delayed from being released for More than 2 years. The film was moved from 2018 to 2019 to avoid being in theaters at the same time as Deadpool 2. In March 2019 the film was moved again to avoid being in theaters at the same time as X-Men:Dark Phoenix. It was delayed again as Disney completed their purchase of Fox Studios. It was scheduled for release in April 2020, but delayed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. It is scheduled to be released on August 28, 2020, but Disney hasn’t said if it would be heading to theaters or streaming. in August, the delayed films Tenet and Disney’s own live action Mulan are scheduled to be released.
There will be a virtual SDCC panel on Thursday July 23rd, with the cast and director. Maybe at that panel we will finally get a firm answer on how and when this long delayed movie is going to be released.
