Yesterday, the family of Brian Wilson made the sad announcement on Twitter and Instagram that Brian Wilson had passed away. He was 82 years old.
Brian was a pioneer in music. He was a great songwriter and the primary song writer for The Beach Boys. Brian was a co-founder and the leader of the popular band.
The Beach Boys created a style that became known as the California Sound. It instantly brought images and thoughts of Summertime fun with songs like “Good Vibrations,” “California Girls”, and “Surfin’ USA”. The Beach Boys had more than 30 singles on the Top 40 Hits. Their world wide sales was more than 100 Million. The 1966 Album, Pet Sounds, was ranked the second greatest album by Rolling Stones in 2003.
Brian was the last surviving member of the trio of Wilson Brothers in the band. He was the eldest of the three. Brian was on bass, while Carl took the lead guitar and Dennis handled drums.
Rest in Peace, Brian Wilson.
