The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker/Spidey) has gone on the record previously that he would love for Spidey to be a part of the Avengers movies. He stated to Yahoo, “I know that the fans would love that, the fans of the Marvel universe… the more the merrier, the bigger the better.”. (comicbook.com)
Now the director of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Marc Webb, has also come out in favor of combining the franchises. “I would love that, as a fan, I think that would be great… I don’t know how that would happen, but I certainly would be supportive of it.” (comicbook.com)
Spidey has become a member of the Avengers over the last decade. Previously he was not accepted for membership into the Avengers for various reasons. But unlike in the comics, it is unlikely that Spider-Man and the Avengers could co-exist.
Sony owns the rights to the Amazing Spider-Man franchise. Disney/Marvel owns the rights to the Avengers movie franchise. It isn’t likely that Sony and Disney will play together to bring Spidey and the Avengers into each other’s universes.
