In previous years, Action Comics #1, the first appearance of Superman and Detective Comics #27, the first appearance of Batman, have held the most expensive comic sold title. Action Comics #1 was in 1938 and Detective Comics #27 from 1939. Amazing Fantasy jump forward more than two decades with 1962. It is the first silver age comic to hold the title.
This price makes the issue of Amazing Fantasy #15 (9.6 rating) that sold for $262,900 seem like a bargain.
