The terror that flaps in the night is back! Disney+ has officially ordered a brand-new animated Darkwing Duck series, bringing St. Canard’s premiere vigilante back to the screen.
This new series takes Drake Mallard (aka Darkwing Duck) into uncharted territory. After being trapped in an alternate dimension where the world hasn’t seen or heard of Darkwing Duck for 35 years, Drake finds himself long removed from his crime-fighting glory days. Enter Duckie, a rebellious teenager who uncovers Drake’s secret past as the cape-wearing hero. Teaming up with Duckie, Darkwing must dust off his gas gun to tackle classic rogues like Negaduck and Megavolt.
The series marks a major passing of the torch for St. Canard’s signature voice. Legendary voice actor Jim Cummings has hung up the cape, stepping aside for screen and voice-acting icon Mark Hamill (Star Wars, Batman: The Animated Series) to take on the titular role. While Cummings’ legendary performance will always be cherished, Hamill’s storied voice-acting resume makes him an incredible successor.

It is incredibly exciting to see Darkwing Duck making a full-fledged comeback on Disney+. The original series remains a beloved fan favorite, and this new direction promises plenty of action, humor, and nostalgia.
