Stranger Things is officially back, but not in the format we’re used to. Netflix has just released the first trailer for “Stranger Things: Tales from ’85,” an all-new animated series that expands the world of the Upside Down.
Set during the snowy winter of 1985, this new series bridges the gap between the events of Seasons 2 and 3. While our favorite group of friends thinks they’ve earned a break from the supernatural, something sinister is stirring beneath the ice of Hawkins.
As a huge fan of the franchise, I’m thrilled to see the world expanded in this way. The animation style looks like a perfect tribute to the 80s Saturday morning cartoons we grew up with, but with that signature Stranger Things tension. Even though the original live-action cast has been replaced by a new group of talented voice actors, the heart of the “Party” remains the same.
