VisionCon President Brandon Shane Passes Away

VisionCon President Brandon Shane Passes Away

If you live in the Greater Springfield, MO area and are a geek/nerd, it is a great chance you knew Brandon Shane.  Brandon was a great guy with an amazing smile.  He love his nerdy and geeky fandoms as much as anyone.  He not only enjoyed his fandoms but loved how others enjoyed theirs.

Brandon Shane passed away on Wednesday June 2nd at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO from COVID-19.  He was only 31 years of age.  He was surrounded by family when he passed.

I first met Brandon on the Fanatics and the Fan podcast.  Brandon was very informed and personal and quickly became a friend.  Brandon was an amazing guy with a great heart.

I got to know Brandon over the years. He always made everyone feel important and welcome. I watched him work his butt off during Visioncon one year. He must have put in 16 hours straight on his feet. He still made time to talk to us about the convention and what we were doing. He will be so missed in the geek/ nerd community.

Brandon was well known as the President of Visioncon, a local annual geek convention that focused on charity.  He always worked so hard to support this wonderful convention and the charities they supported. Below is from his Visioncon family.

On June 2nd, Brandon succumbed to COVID-19 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. His family was with him.
We, his fellow nerds, geeks, gaming buddies, co-workers, cosplayers, and fellow volunteers mourn the loss of a genuinely good person and a powerful force for the charity community.
Visioncon will continue, but will be poorer for the loss of Brandon Shane.
Funeral and memorial information will follow on Facebook.  (VisionCon Facebook)
