Disney+ is taking us back to the criminal underbelly of a galaxy far, far away! Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is the next major animated installment in the Star Wars saga, and it’s officially set to debut in 2026.
Created by Dave Filoni, this new series is set just one year after the harrowing events of The Clone Wars finale. With the Galactic Empire tightening its grip on the galaxy, Maul isn’t going into hiding—he’s building an empire of his own. The show follows his rise as an intergalactic gangster, filling in the crucial gaps in his timeline leading up to his appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Fans of The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch will be thrilled to know that the series features a similar, high-fidelity animation style, but with a “gritty, neon-noir” twist. Sam Witwer is also confirmed to return, reprising his iconic role as the voice of the former Sith Lord.
Lucasfilm released a chilling teaser today, but the wait for the main event is almost over. The full official trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord drops tomorrow, January 22, 2026.
