Planet Comicon Kansas City 2026 kicked off with an incredible Day 1! Friday is always a unique day at the show—the energy is fresh, the floor is buzzing, and while it isn’t quite as packed as the Saturday rush, the excitement is palpable.
As you can see in the photo, the crowds were already moving up the escalators to the show floor just minutes after the official opening. The atmosphere was electric right from the jump!
I spent the afternoon wandering the show floor, and while I didn’t make it as far as I planned (there is just too much to see!), I did have the chance to connect with several comic creators. We’ve already got a few interviews lined up for later this weekend that you won’t want to miss. I also caught a few panels, so stay tuned for those deep-dive articles coming soon.
I ended the night on a high note by checking out a KOOL lineup of independent bands. Every performance was fantastic, but a personal highlight was seeing Davvn. I’ve been following them for a while now, and they absolutely crushed it. Meeting the band afterward was the cherry on top—they are as KOOL in person as they are on stage!
Having attended Planet Comicon for numerous years, I have to give a huge shout-out to the organizers this year. The efficiency and flow of the convention have hit an all-time high. From the registration process to the way staff helped fans find what they needed, the organization was incredibly smooth and time-efficient.
