In 1944, Germany controlled most of Europe, and the Allies were preparing a massive invasion aimed at striking directly at the heart of the Nazi war machine. But previous trial runs had gone disastrously wrong, adding even more pressure to the already immense responsibility resting on the shoulders of General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
And the German forces weren’t the only obstacle he faced.
The weather itself posed a potential disaster. For the Allies to cross the English Channel, they needed a very specific combination of tides, moonlight, winds, and visibility. A sudden shift could doom the entire operation before it even began.
With time running out and the possibility of delaying the invasion for months, Eisenhower turned to Captain James Stagg, a seasoned meteorological expert whose forecast would determine whether Operation Overlord could proceed. The two men evaluated every option, knowing the fate of Europe hinged on one critical decision: Go or delay?
