Mel Brooks has officially announced the title for the long‑awaited Spaceballs sequel: Spaceballs: The New One. While many fans expected Brooks to lean into the famous joke from the original 1987 film—Spaceballs: The Search for More Money—that line was always meant as a punchline, not a literal sequel title.
As Brooks explains, the original gag was simply poking fun at Hollywood sequel culture, not setting up a real follow‑up decades later. With Spaceballs: The New One, the legendary filmmaker brings the parody full circle while keeping the spirit of the original intact.
Check out the video below. Spaceballs: The New One is expected to hit theaters on April 23, 2027.
