LibraryCon and RubleCon In Springfield This Weekend

This weekend, there are two Comicbook Conventions in Springfield, MO.  LibraryCon is On Saturday August 27th.  RubleCon is held on both Saturday August 27th and Sunday August 28th.

LibraryCon will begin at 11 AM on Saturday at the Library Center in Sprinfield, MO~ 4653 S Campbell Ave, Springfield, MO 65810. It is a FREE convention.   There are tons of activities, booths to visit, and tons of Geek Fun.  Come check out the GeekyKOOL table at LibraryCon and say hello.

Here is a list of Panels and activies going on at LibraryCon on Saturday.

→ 11 a.m. Fandom Starts Early Storytime: Geek out as a family in our storytime created especially for little ones of geeky parents! In the Story Hour Room.

→ 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Open Gaming: Try your hand at table top gaming. Learn about Pathfinder RPG and the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game with help from the Springfield Missouri Pathfinder Society. Try various board games with 417 Gamers. In the Story Hour Room.

→ Noon. What Geeks Should Read Next (Geeky Reads): What’s New in Fantasy, Science Fiction and Comics. Get the scoop on what the experts are reading and recommending as geeky librarians share their favorite novels, comics, manga and more. Participants will be eligible to win free books! In the auditorium.

→ 1 p.m. Illustrator Panel: Hear local illustrators discuss their craft, the comic business and answer questions from the audience. Panelists include: Adam McLaughlin, David Faught, Kristina Murdaugh, Leanne M. Krecic, Nate Howard and Ryan Wheaton. In the auditorium. ~ Moderated the Geeky KOOL’s Larry Litle

→ 1:30 p.m. “Game of Thrones” Fan Discussion: Love “Game of Thrones”? Discuss the most recent season and discuss theories on what will happen next and who belongs on the Iron Throne. Moderated by Andy Thompson and Mike Carroll. In the Harrison Room.

→ 2 p.m. Author Panel: Authors will discuss the glory and the agony of writing, publishing and answer questions from the audience. Panelists include: Brian Katcher, EM Ervin, Holly Messinger, Sarah Jude and Bethany Hagen. In the auditorium.

→ 2:30 p.m. Draw-along with an Illustrator: Join illustrators Nate Howard and Adam McLaughlin as they show you how to draw and help you create a work of art! Outside the Story Hour Room.

→ 3 p.m. Graphic Novels & Comics Panel: How can you use comics in the classroom? What’s trending? What’s just around the corner in the world of comics? Our panelists will discuss these and other topics. Panelists include: Chris Wilson and Josh Roberts. In the auditorium.

→ 4 p.m. Cosplay Panel: Want to get into cosplay? Learn how to get started, where to get support and tips, and see some amazing creations! Panelists include: Brandon Lauthern, Anna Colston, Felicia Livingston, Springfield Cosplay-guest to be announced, Lucas Corley and Toni Globis. In the auditorium.

→ 5 p.m. Teen Cosplay Fashion Show: Do you want to show off your mad cosplay skills? Join the teens-only fashion show at LibraryCon! Wear your best costume and show off on the red carpet for our LibraryCon audience and panel of cosplay experts. Teens are invited to stay after the show and get tips about creating and improving their cosplay creations. In the auditorium.
RubleCon2016

RubleCon is a two day Conventation at University Plaza Convention Center on August 27th and  28th.  A one day pass is $5 and a two day pass is only $8.   It will have toys, comics, diecast hotwheels , and vintage toys.  There will be local artist and writers at the convention including Javier Saltares, Brian Koschak, and Gary Bedell.   The main event is Jake the Snake Roberts will be signing autographs on Sunday 28th 9:30am – 4pm .
