Yesterday was the second Annual LibraryCon at the Library Center in Springfield, MO. This one day free convention had a ton of potential. There were several awesome panels scheduled. There were tons of booths included writers in the main part of the library. Last year saw a lot of people come through the Library to engage in an awesome Convention. Would this year continue to build on the awesomeness of last year’s convention? Yes it would and more so.

Geeky KOOL had a booth at LibraryCon.  I sent much of the Convention talking to those in attendance.  It gave me an opportunity to talk about Geeky KOOL and promote our site.  We had a prime table spot next to the awesome Comic Cave booth.  There was a ton of traffic and met a lot of awesome people.

Geeky KOOL gave away free comics to people stopping by our booth.  We had a full short box of comics that were pre-owned.  We wanted to give people something fun and share comics. Thank you to those that donated comics for this occasion.  We ran out of free comics before 2 pm.  Next year, we will gather a long box of free comics to give away.

We had two awesome autographed Trade Paperbacks giveaways.  We had a free raffle drawing for both comics.  We gave away an awesome  Champions of Erendil Volume 1 Trade Paperback, which was autographed by Maia and Luna Cooper (See Previous Interview with Maia and Luna).  Critter Volume 4 Trade from BDI/Aspen Comics was our other giveaway.  It was autographed by creator Tom Hutchison.  Below is a picture of Mallori accepting her autographed comic.

I was involved in a couple of other awesome activities during this fantastic convention. I moderated an awesome panel of Illustrators. This panel had three awesome creators. The fantastic David Faught is best known for is wonderful pinup work.  Nate Howard‘s web comic Potbelly Mammoth is an wonderful comic about Nate’s life if he had a tiny Potbelly Mammoth and a Teacup T-Rex.  Adam McLaughlin is the artist on the new KOOL horror comic, Listen to the Thunder. Check out the Listen to the Thunder Kickstarter page and ask your comic retailers to preorder this comic for you if you didn’t get in on the Kickstarter.

I appeared on the awesome podcast, Fanatics and the Fan for their special Live LibraryCon episode.  I posted on it here.  It was a ton of fun.  I always love hanging with Hawk, Keith, Sandy, and the gang.  Check it out if you haven’t listened to it.

LibraryCon was a fantastic time.  My only regret was not being able to check out the whole convention.  I was at my booth, in the panel, or on the podcast the whole day.  I wish I could have seen the booths of my author and artist friends.  I did get to see authors J. Christopher WilsonE.M. Ervin, and Ben Reeder walking around for a few.  Next year, I will bring another Geeky KOOL contributor to work the booth with me.

Did I mention I am pushing for LibraryCon to be a three day event next year?  I might not get my wish yet but I know they are quickly growing past a one day convention.  It was too KOOL and too busy to stay just a one day convention for long.

Rating for LibraryCon2016:  A+
