While hanging out at Missouri Comic Con, I overheard a conversation that genuinely made my day. If you’ve ever spent time at a convention, you know this kind of thing isn’t unusual—some truly weird and wonderfully funny conversations just float through the air. As a dedicated people‑watcher and listener, this is one of my favorite parts of convention life.
I was sitting in the main stage area between panels when a couple of guys behind me started talking about the upcoming guest lineup. These were adults—young adults—but definitely old enough to know a little pop culture history.
Here’s how the conversation went:
“Who are you wanting to see?”
“I’m excited to see Anthony Michael Hall. You know… from Halloween.”
“I want to see the guy from Independence Day… Randy Quaid.”
I had to laugh—internally, of course.
Both of these actors are known for so much more than the roles being mentioned. Hearing them reduced to just those titles was unintentionally hilarious. My brain immediately wanted to jump into the conversation and say, “Have you two ever seen The Breakfast Club or Christmas Vacation? If not, you really should.”
I’m still laughing about it. Gentlemen, thank you for unintentionally making my day.
Stay Geeky—and know your stars.
