Aussie Star Wars!

Aussie Star Wars!

I’m going to need my protocol droid to translate this one!

Michael Cox, an Australian film artist, has directed a 30-minute Star Wars themed short film called Star Wars Downunder, and it could not be more visually KOOL, mate! As I feel about all of these fan films, I am not sure how the acting will turn out, especially using evidence from the trailer. If it fits the type of film then it is okay, but way too many fan films inject too much of a serious tone for my taste. This is a film with Australian actors as well, so there may be more humor here than I understand, because I can not honestly comprehend all of what is being said, or if it is supposed to be humorous or not. I can seem to tell that they did not take themselves too seriously. But even if they did, who cares?! The visual FX on this is some of the best I have seen in a Star Wars fan film in a while, because it does not try to veer too much away from the Star Wars look and be something else, and resembles decent production value. The feel is light and captures the universe of Star Wars while also being fresh. I laughed at how the troopers, much like the “bucket-head” stormtroopers from The Original Trilogy, really do have bucket-shaped helmets. So, I will definitely be looking forward to this in the coming weeks, but I do hope there is an option for subtitles.
