Holderness Family videos—especially their music parodies—are some of my favorite things to watch on YouTube. This talented family has a blast creating content designed to make us smile. Their focus on Generation X themes, the music many of us grew up with, and their humorous takes on everyday life make their channel consistently entertaining.
I recently discovered their podcast, Holderness Family Laughs, which features thoughtful and often hilarious conversations between Kim and Penn Holderness.
Penn has known about his Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) for many years and has fully embraced his diagnosis. He and Kim even wrote a book together about ADHD and how families can better support loved ones who have it.
I’ve related to Penn from the beginning. As a classic ADHD male myself, I struggled in school and had difficulty focusing on what I needed to do. I’ve experienced many of the same symptoms—and I’ve also learned to embrace my diagnosis.
Kim has typically been the organized and introverted member of the duo. Recently, she received her own ADHD diagnosis, which came as a major surprise to her. In their podcast episode, they share how her diagnosis unfolded and how she’s navigating it. It’s also a helpful reminder that women are often underdiagnosed with ADHD.
