The Last Samurai Standing is an upcoming Japanese Netflix original live-action television series, adapted from the manga Last Samurai Standing. The manga itself was based on the novel of the same name, written by Shogo Imamura and illustrated by Katsumi Tatsuzawa.
Set in the late 19th century during Japan’s Meiji period, the story begins when a mysterious call goes out to 292 warriors, each promised a substantial financial reward. They gather at the historic Tenryūji Temple in Kyoto, each driven by personal motives.
Among them is Shujiro Saga, who enters the deadly contest in hopes of saving his ailing wife and child.
