Professor DM shares his view on the Diamond Comic Distributors bankruptcy and their attempt to liquidate the consignment in their possession. Their rational is that the businesses they had contracted with didn’t fill out the paperwork correct. To Quote Monsters, Inc, “Wazowski! You didn’t file your paperwork last night.”
Professor DM discusses how this can affect a lot of comic book and gaming companies. If the courts rule in Diamond’s favor, and there is precedent for it, this is a huge issue for gaming companies. Most have a thin profit margin and may go bankrupt. Even if they survive, this could cause their games to not end up on book selves at book stores and Amazon. They will probably be discounted at best.
Some of gaming comics, like Paizo Games including Pathfinder, had an exclusive relationship with Diamond Comic Distributors. Other companies like Dungeons and Dragons has contracts with different distributors. Critical Roles’ Daggerheart doesn’t have a contract at all with Diamond.
Table Top Role Playing games may suffer greatly if the courts rule in Diamond’s favor.
