A Memoir For Adam West

Adam West, the Batman of the cult classic television show The Adventures of Batman and Robin, the mayor of Quahog on Family Guy,  and Fairly OddParents Catman  passed away on June 9th, 2017 at age 88. He has left a legacy of great acting scenes behind.

Adam West was born William West Anderson on September 19th, 1929 in Walla Walla Washington. He gained his acting career hit as Batman after producer William Dozier saw him in a Nestle Quik commercial. After the show’s end Adam West’s acting career took a nosedive where he made most of his income doing personal appearances as Batman a fate shared by his co-stars Burt Ward and Yvonne Craig.  Because of his cult classic image, starting in the 90s he has made dozens of guest appearances on shows like, Pete and Pete, The Simpsons, The Drew Carey Show, and even became a regular member of Seth McFarlane’s Family Guy as Mayor West.

Like many Batman fans Adam West, and Kevin Conroy introduced me the Caped Crusader of Gotham City. I remember many days as a child watching Adam West fight The Riddler, The Joker, The Penguin and Catwoman.  Later when he became a returning guest star on Fairly OddParents I laughed along with any of his humorous antics. I can only express my deepest sympathy for the Anderson family. Like many fans of Adam West’s over the top style this news has deeply saddened me.

With that I end with, “To the Batmobile Robin!”

Rest in Peace Adam West.
