Sixteen Year old Elif Bilgin won this year’s Google Science Fair for her revolutionary creation of bio-plastics from banana peels. This method she created at home from her 12 trials. She has developed a process to use a current waste and make it into something society needs. This can replace the current petroleum based plastic, which should be better for the environment. I told my 12 year old daughter about this right away. Not only is this a great discovery but it is a great example of a young lady working in science to make a difference. Girls and boys both can make awesome scientific discoveries and help make our world a better place.
