The Way of the Warrior Kid is a new movie coming to Apple TV+ that puts Chris Pratt into the unlikely role of mentor, trainer, and very demanding uncle.
When Uncle Jake (Chris Pratt), a Navy SEAL, is injured during a mission, he comes to live with his sister, Sarah, and his nephew, Marc. Marc is struggling with a group of bigger boys who are bullying him. Tired of being pushed around, Marc begs Uncle Jake to train him so he can stand up for himself and fight back.
Marc may have bitten off a little more than he expected.
Being a Navy SEAL, Uncle Jake doesn’t exactly believe in doing things halfway. He develops an entire training program for his nephew called Operation Warrior Kid. The program includes discipline, getting up early, working out, and even attending a jiu-jitsu class, where Marc quickly discovers that becoming a warrior isn’t going to happen overnight.
The trailer definitely has some The Karate Kid vibes, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it appears to knowingly lean into some of those familiar training and underdog movie tropes.
More importantly, Jake’s training seems to be preparing Marc for something much bigger than simply fighting his bullies. It’s about building discipline, confidence, resilience, and learning how to stand up for himself.
Will Marc become the warrior he’s hoping to be? And perhaps more importantly, will Uncle Jake help him understand what actually makes someone a warrior?
The Way of the Warrior Kid will premiere on Apple TV+ on November 25, 2026.
