As a member of the Navy League of Hampton Roads, and GeekyKool’s resident Military Veteran, every year I attend the Navy League’s yearly convention in National Harbor, MD at the Gaylord Hotel and Convention Center. Usually I do one post about the event, However this year, I decided to not simply be an observer, and do some actual reporting and interviews with various companies that either have current defense contracts, or are showing their technology to try and get contracts with various government agencies.
So this will be the first of 3 or 4 articles. I am going to do separate articles for each company that I did an interview with. This first article will be a general article with most of the photos that I took(with the exception of companies I did interviews with), also included in this article with the the Monday Luncheon keynote speech by the current CNO Admiral Daryl Caudle, which was an interesting speech on the current and future plans for the US Navy.
Also on Monday they celebrated the 100th birthday of Admiral Wayne Meyer, who from 1970 to 1985 spearheaded the drive to create the Aegis System for US Navy Ships. The Aegis System ties Radar & Weapons(Offensive and Defensive) together. This allows the system to react faster than Human beings do, thereby allowing the ship to survive. Also, when the VCNO gives remarks, you always talk to him and ask if he has his challenge coin on him.

In the coming days I will be adding interviews, and photos that I took over the 2 days that I was at the event.
