Thoughts on Star Wars Episode IX

Star Wars Episode IX
has went through some changes recently.  Firstly, director Colin Trevorrow was let go from the movie because of a difference in vision.  Disney announced the hiring of J.J. Abrams as both writer and director for Episode IX.  Episode IX release date has been rescheduled to December 20, 2019.

Colin Trevorrow is the writer and director Jurassic World.  Jurassic World was wonderful writer and director. It is best sequel in the Jurassic Park series.

From my perspective, Trevorrow would have been a fine writer and director Star Wars Episode IX.  He proved himself as a fine blockbuster filmmaker.   But I don’t have a problem with Disney letting him go.  It is their film and they must have had enough differences that they couldn’t work together further on this project.

Because of the change of writers and director, it makes sense to push back Star Wars Episode IX until December 20, 2019.  As fans, we don’t want this movie rushed. We want to ready to shine when we walk into the movie theater on opening day.  We want to be wowed.  We don’t want to look at the film and wonder why this effect or this plot issue wasn’t fixed. I am happy to delay seeing Episode IX if the movie is complete and not rushed.

Some people think the parting ways with Trevorrow and the push back of the release date is a sign that this movie and the whole franchise is in trouble.  This doesn’t mean the project is or was in trouble.  Yes, the Han Solo movie had some issues and it is fair to say it was in trouble but now they have Ron Howard on board.  I am sure Ron Howard will correct the issues with the Han Solo movie. None of that means that Star Wars Episode IX was in trouble.

I love the hiring of J.J. Abrams.  He is one of my favorite writers and directors.  I love almost everything he is involved creating.  I know some didn’t love his Star Trek movies or The Force Awakens, but I loved them both.  I am excited or the return of J.J. to the series.

Those are my thoughts.
