Stormtrooper treks across Australia for charity

Check out the video of Jacob French.  He is a member of the 501st Legion. As a member, part of their responsibilities are charity sponsorship and work.  Here was his Everyday Hero site.

He started his “Trooper Trek 2011” in July of last year.  He walked from Perth (Western Australia) to Sydney (New South Wales).  He crossed 4 states and walked 5,000 kilometres in modified Trooper armor.  It took him 9 months to complete. He lost 12 KG in weight and went through 7 pairs of shoes.   In the process he  raised over $100,000 (£62,000)  for Starlight Children Foundation.

“Since 1988 Starlight has been brightening the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families throughout Australia. Starlight’s programs support the well being and resilience of these children.

Every minute of everyday a child is admitted to hospital across Australia. At Starlight all our programs support the well being & resilience of seriously ill children and their families. Our ultimate goal is to enable each and every child to have access to Starlight programs.

Starlight programs are integral to the total care of seriously ill children – while the health professionals focus on treating the illness, Starlight is there to lift the spirits of the child – giving them the opportunity to laugh and play and be a child again. ” (Starlight)

On his final stage of the walk, he stopped in the Sydney Children’s Hospital.  He was greeted as the hero he is.  On the above site, there are a few great pictures of Jacob interacting with some of the kids.

I salute you Jacob French. May the force be with you!
