Military is testing a new type of non lethal weapon, a noise gun. A burst of loud noise is meant to scare and cause some light pain. It can be directed down to a single person.
The weapon is still in the testing mode. Currently it will only work in short range. They are attempting to increase the range on this weapon to above 100′.
This gun is called LIPE, Laser Induced Plasma Effect. It fires a plasma beam of energy. The electrons and nuclei separate as the beam goes until it creates a plasma ball. Then another round of energy hits the plasma to create the loud noise.
How KOOL is it that the military has both the term Laser and Plasma in a weapon they are creating. It would be KOOLer if it fired blue or red beams. Yet is it a KOOL and non-Lethal weapon.
