Marvel’s Creative Committee Disbanded

When Marvel Studios moved from the Marvel Entertainment umbrella to the Disney Studio umbrella,  the Marvel Creative Committee disbanded.  The committee oversaw all Marvel movies from the start of the script to the final cuts of the movies.  They provided notes and thoughts at each stage.

The committee was made up of an all-star Marvel cast.  Here is a list of members: President of Marvel Entertainment Alan Fine; Marvel Comics publisher Dan Buckley; Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada; and writer Brian Michael Bendis.

The committee helped keep their movies in the same spirit with the comic book characters.  But rumors state this committee was a source of frustration for writers and directors.  Edgar Wright’s departure from Ant-Man may be partially related to issues with the committee.  Marvel’s Creative Committee appear to still be involved with
Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange.

This committee sounds like a good idea. You need a source to maintain character integrity at a high level.  But when this committee starts nitpicking and stifling the creativity of the writers, directors, and actors, then there is a problem.

I hope the movies don’t lose their way without the committee.  We know what has happened to the Fantastic Four.
