LibraryCon 2018 is This Weekend


LibraryCon 2018 is here!  This weekend is the awesome local comic/geek convention held by the Springfield -Greene County Library at the Library Center in Springfield, MO.  This day (and a special session on Friday night before) is this upcoming Saturday August 18th, 2018 from 10 AM to 5 PM. This convention is FREE to the public and is always a ton of fun for ALL AGES.

If you have never attended a Comic/Geek Convention, this is a great place to start.  There will be a ton of cosplayers and awesome geek group on site. If you or your kids would like to meet some Stormtroopers, the Ghostbusters, the Doctor and his fans, or some Trekkies, you are in luck. Most of these cosplayers and groups are happy to talk and take pictures.

If you are a veteran Con Goer, you will will also love this convention.  You can meet some awesome creators and get fantastic art without having to pay a entry fee.  This convention will some big names and some up and comers comic creators.

On Friday August 17th at 7 PM, will have a special session with  author, comics historian and publisher Hope Nicholson.  She’ll talk about “The Spectacular Sisterhood of Superwomen: Awesome Female Characters from Comic Book History,” which looks at the history of women in comics from the 1930s to 2010s. Hope is the owner of the Winnipeg-based publishing house Bedside Press, which creates graphic novels and prose fiction including “The Secret Loves of Geek Girls” and “Love Beyond Body, Space, and Time.” Books will be available for sale and signing.
