Director J.J. Abrams will direct the new Star Wars movie that is due out in 2015.   This is news is mind blowing.  This is a dream come true for this Star Wars Geek.  I had to confirm this news with various sources before I would believe it.

Many Star Wars fans had hoped that Abrams would take the reigns.  The prequels left many fans unsure if another movie would add to their passion for the Force.  Abrams’ signing will lead to many of these skeptics to jump back on the Star Wars bandwagon.

Abrams is best known for his directing and producing geek television series.  Many of his series have had mainstream appeal while never compromising their geek rep.  LOST, Alias, Revolution, and Fringe are just a few of his hit television series.

Abrams has had plenty of big screen success with geek movies.  He already has Mission Impossible, Cloverfield, Super 8, and Star Trek under his theatrical directing belt.  The Star Trek reboot was fantastic and rejuvenated a waning geek franchise that needed his magnificent overall.

He has several movies on the way before the new Star Wars movie.  Abrams will  have his much anticipated Star Trek  Into Darkness (Star Trek Sequel) out this summer.  Mission Impossible and Cloverfield sequels are due out before the next Star Wars movie.

As a fan of both Star Wars and Star Trek (yes you can be a fan of both), I am tingling with excitement.  It is completely geek-tastic news.  Just the thought of Star Trek and Star Wars sharing a great director and both being relevant at the same time will have me pumped up for the next few years.  I find it completely unbelievable.
