GK (GeekyKOOL) :  Brittney, I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your very busy schedule to answer some questions.

Please tell our readers a little about the premise, setting, and general world of Strange Happenings.

BG (Brittney Greer):  Strange Happenings is a supernatural dramedy that follows Nicole Tesla, a paranormal journalist who has recently been fired. Nicole is strong, witty, and very good at finding the strange and unusual, she knows what goes bump in the night. After an anonymous back contacts her to fund her online magazine, “Strange Happenings,” Nicole begins to suspect foul play when bodies begin to pile up. It’s such a fun world to play in with Nicoles wit, the monsters, and mystery’s. The character of Nicole is one of my favorite characters that I’ve written for, it’s actually one of my favorite stories that I’ve gotten to work on. The show has a Buffy/Supernatural/Kolshack vibe and is a fun and mysterious ride, I loved every second of being on set.

GK:    The main character’s name is Nicole Tessla.  Her last name is spelled with an extra “S”–Tessla instead of Tesla. Is her name a tribute to famous scientist Nikola Tesla?

BG: Her last name is actually Tesla just like the famed scientist Nikola Tesla, its something that Brasier likes to do with projects, having fun things hidden in character names that tie into real life history. Its fun when people recognize it or have questions about it. It makes it fun for us as writers, to have people thinking about what you’re putting into the story.

GK: Looks like I misread the spelling of her last name somewhere. Nikola Tesla is a great person to pay tribute.

GK:    Nicole is played by actress Hannah Duncan.  We have seen Hannah is other web series and shows.  Tell us where we have seen Hannah prior to Strange Happenings.

BG:  We have been extremely blessed to have the amazing Hannah Duncan back on one of our sets. Hannah was in season one of Drifter and she’s someone Brasier and I have  wanted to have back on our set for awhile. Strange Happenings is my first time to be directing and I couldn’t have asked for a better lead. She’s extremely talented, professional, positive, and one of the funniest people to have on set.  She truly brought Nicole to life like no one else could. Besides Drifter Hannah has been in a lot of theatre productions, and she was also in TBS’ Men at Work.  (See IMDB for Hannah here)

GK:    Your business partner, Jason Brasier, is a huge Power Rangers fan. David J. Fielding of Power Rangers fame is a cast member of Strange Happenings.  Tell us the story of signing Fielding, what he was like to work with on set and if Jason geeked out the entire time.

BG: My business partner Jason and I are actually both HUGE Power Ranger fans. We were beyond excited to have David J. Fielding, Zordon himself, on set. We first were in contact with him on Instagram. I had posted a photo from season 2 of Drifter and tagged him in it. He had commented asking were we shot at and if he could come to set sometime, we were floored. After that a dialogue was started, Brasier got in contact with him and discussed our hopes of working with him on Strange Happenings. He was so nice, humble, and is amazingly talented. We had a lot to accomplish on his filming days so it was hard to geek out to the extent everyone would have liked to but we did get autographs and pictures. He was very cool and brought photos and signed them for everyone.  It was so surreal to have someone that Brasier and I both watched as kids on one of our sets and for me, getting to direct him was the icing on the cake. It was such a wonderful time for us to have him on set. He’s an amazing person.   (See IMDB for David J. Fielding here)

GK:    There is a Go Fund Me drive to support the costs of filming of Strange Happenings.  How much are you trying to raise and what does the funds support?

BG: Right now we have a go fund me page still going to raise funds for post-production. We have a couple of fun things that we need special fx for so some of the money we raise will be going towards that. The rest will be going towards the actual editing process, we are working with some new editors. We are excited to get the process started. Our page is gofundme.com/StrangeHappenings.

GK:    When will Strange Happenings be available for Geeky KOOL readers to watch? What platforms will you use to view Strange Happenings?

BG: Right now we do not have a time set for Strange Happenings to be released. We have some hopes for the release month but unfortunately we have to raise the funds for the editing process first. As of right now we will have Strange Happenings on our website and possibly youtube.

GK:    I would be delinquent if I didn’t ask about your upcoming projects after Strange Happenings.  What is on the plate for American Wasteland Entertainment over the rest of the year?  Will we see the highly anticipated season 3 of Drifter?

BG: American Wasteland Entertainment has a lot in the works, besides post-production for Strange Happenings, we also have Barker Hole, our noir crime drama set in the Ozarks, created by Michael Brasier. This project is currently being edited by Jason. We have a lot of other projects that we are writing on as well, we like to keep things pretty quite until we are ready to go into production. I’m excited to get back to writing for Nicole for season 2 of Strange Happenings, I miss the characters already. Drifter 3 is also  being worked on as well, we just don’t want to rush the creative process. Everyone make sure to stay tuned we have a lot of fun stuff coming up.

Special thank you goes out to Studio 2060, the Eternal Armory (who made the Warlock ring), and all the people that provided locations and helped.

GK: On that note, thank you so much Brittney for an awesome interview.  It is always a pleasure as always.

We will keep you posted when Strange Happenings and other projects like Barker Hole from  American Wasteland Entertainment become available.
