Comic Book Review:The Amazing Spider-Man #678

I have been a Spidey fan since I was a little kid. I have been reading Amazing on and off (mainly on) since the mid to late 70’s. I have read many of the old Amazing comics on CD/DVD.  There have been a ton of terrific stories over the years. Is there another classic Spider-Man story left to tell?

Plot:
Peter Parker now works for Horizon Labs, a top scientific lab / think tank. Part of the job is to buddy up with a co-worker to go over the math and ideas.  This month’s buddy is Grady Scraps who built a doorway to tomorrow or at least to tomorrow’s breakroom.

Peter is sceptical about this doorway to tomorrow.  Grady walks through the doorway and and brings tomorrow’s paper back for Peter. Peter is impressed and walks through the door way and followed by Grady. Instead of a nice breakroom of tomorrow, he finds Horizon Labs and the rest of the New York destroyed.  Because Peter stepped through the door, Spider-Man was not around for the day and New York was destroyed.

Peter and Grady walked back through the door but this did not fix tomorrow through the door. Peter explains that he is a close friend of Spider-Man and helps design his tech. Peter runs off and changes into the Web Head. Spidey calls Grady and discuss how tomorrow is still destroyed. They decide the Wall Crawler needs to do all the things the paper from tomorrow (good tomorrow before Peter destroyed tomorrow) states Spider-Man did today.

Spider-Man races around the whole of New York. He saves people, stops super villains, and captures 11 purse snatchers. He does all of this activities to stop the doomsday but nothing he has done can stop it. Time is running out.

Little does the Web Head know, terrorists are below him at the parade in honor of Silver Sable and Symkarian Pride. This will be continued in the next issue.
Review:
Art:
The art is beautiful. It is clean and crisp. It had good details. People are drawn in a semi-realistic format.
Story/Plot:
This is a classic Spidey story. He accidentally causes future devastation without meaning to. He does everything he can to stop it.

My REVIEW:
I loved this issue. In my opinion, it will be one of the classic Spider-Man stories of all times.  You even get Mayor J.J. Jameson telling the crowd “Excelisior!”
