]]>Diane was asked when she discovered she wanted to be an actress. She stated, “I looked in the mirror at age four and decided I wanted to be an actress.” She went on to share, “I always sang. I sang at home. In college, I was in the choir. My first job out of college was a backup singer for Johnny Mathis. I was a backup singer for several years before I learned about voice acting. Then I decided I wanted to do that.”
Kevin was asked how he got into animation for BTAS. He stated that he started off working for DIC doing kids shows and videos. He worked on The Real Ghostbusters, Spectrum, TMS, and many more. He met a ton of people and things worked out for him to come to Batman: The Animated Series. He was one of the first ones hired for it and the first director.
Kevin went on to state that he was an animation snob. He wasn’t really interested in doing a Batman show. He was afraid it would be in the style of Tiny Tunes since that was the hot thing at Warner at the time. But he was shown the trailer and from that moment he was hooked. He stated it reminded him of the Fleischer Superman movies of the 40s, which he loved.
Kevin stated he brought in a lot of people to do Batman with because he knew them at DIC. He felt like it was getting the band back together.
Dan used to work for Disney doing some shorts. He got a call from Kevin. He wanted the job instantly because the trailer had dropped and he wanted in. He knew Bruce Timm, the showrunner because he worked with him at DIC. Dan also worked on Little Nemo for TMS. Dan wanted to be a full-on animator but Bruce kept telling him, “I need a character guy,” since Dan was known for his character work.
Allen stated that he grew up reading comic books like crazy. He went to Film school and did an internship for NBC. He started working for Kids at NBC and then later for Hanna-Barbera. He worked on shows like Smurfs, Gummie Bears, and Duck Tails. He also worked on Superfriends. He always wanted to write good stories for Superfriends but couldn’t because of the time it was on. He argued with the standards and tried to get more freedom but couldn’t. He had written the story for the origin of Batman for Superfriends but had to do it without guns and violence. He did it where thunder clapped.
Allen had grown tired of working for kids programs after 10 years. “I want guns and fist fights!” He was brought in by Bruce to work on Batman: The Animated Series. He wasn’t convinced he would get to do what he wanted at first. Bruce had to keep telling him yes he could do things and watch the trailer.
Allen had written a Batman script years before but wasn’t allowed to do it. After BTAS, Allen wrote Justice League Action. He stated, “I finally got to write the Superfirends I always wanted to write.”
Dan stated that he knew the show would be big. He said, “I was oblivious and just wanted it to be amazing and getting bad art.”
Kevin stated he had to go to Dan’s knowing it would be big. He wasn’t sure. They heard of a new writer coming in but found out he was coming from Superfriends. Kevin was shocked by the script they got from Allen. “Thank God for Allen!”
They were asked why this show was still so popular. They stated that was aimed at children and adults and not written down. It has been 30 years and it has been seen by 3 generations of fans. Diane stated, “It has legs!”. They stated was popular everywhere including prisons.
Diane was asked about getting the job of Poison Ivy. She stated that she had done a lot of cartoons for Funmations like Flash Gordon, She-Ra, and Mighty Mouse. She auditions for Poison Ivy, she decided that Poison Ivy should have a seductive voice because of her abilities and Diane had done lingerie commercials prior. Poison Ivy should also sound smart because she had a Ph.D. She made it seductive with an edge. She went on to say, “Every villain thinks they are right. You play it like they are convinced they are doing the right thing.”
Diane told a story about learning that Batman: The Animated Series was still being watched and still popular. Her daughter is a Librarian and asked her to come sign a few autographs at the Library. Diane did and was shocked by huge line of fans lined up around the block. She stated this launched her 7th career. She got representation from Celeb Works and now attends conventions where people come up and tell her what a difference she made in their lives.
The whole group praised Bruce Timm and all he did for the show. It was his vision that lead them and kept things on track. Diane also stated the voice director was also brilliant.

]]>Milly Alcock is known for her role as Meg Adams on the series, Upright. She is better known for her role as the younger Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen on House of the Dragon.
Now Alcock will take on the role of the Krytonian “Maid of Steel”, Supegirl. I believe she will do a great job with this role. I hope the writing it amazing as the comic books it is based on. If so, we have our Supergirl for the next decade plus.
The original cinematic Supergirl, Helen Slater, posted on Instagram supporting and welcoming Milly Alcock to the actress club of Supergirl by “passing the cape”.

]]>Batman started back in 1939 in Detective Comics 27. His dark mysterious persona has changed and adapted with the times over the decades. But the core of the character has changed little. Billionaire Playboy Bruce Wayne fights crime at night but puts on the bat-inspired costume, delving out justice with his fists and gadgets.
Over the decades, the cast around him has been added and adapted. Some of his early allies later became villains. He has one of the most intense and recognizable villains galleries of DC Comics. The Villains often carry the film in Batman films.
To celebrate tomorrow, you might want to check out one of his comic book appearances. Many comic stores have a discount on his books for tomorrow. You can also watch one of many movies or animated series/ movies. Remember to look at your friends tomorrow and give them your best deep gravely voice when you exclaim, “I am Batman!”

]]>The post Review- Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen appeared first on Geeky KOOL.
]]>I love comics and superheroes. The Justice League is the banner group superhero book for DC Comics. My father picked up this comic regularly in the 70s and 80s.
RWBY is my favorite anime series. I love this group of heroes with their variety of semblances. Nora is my favorite character. Ruby is right there close to Nora.
When I heard this animated movie was coming, I rolled my eyes. I didn’t know how they would put these two very different teams from very different worlds together. I wasn’t too hopeful after having seen a similar crossover films.
Months later, I am channel surfing. I check out MAX (formerly HBO MAX) and found Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen. I wasn’t expecting much but decided to check it out. I never dreamed it would suck me in.
What I liked:
The story was much better than I had expected. It was a well-thought-out plot. It tapped into the heart of both the Justice League and the Huntsmen. It had a good beginning and mystery, it built up and then had a good ending. I later found out that it is based off of the comic book crossover written by Marguerite Bennett. I have always enjoyed Bennett’s writing.
The anime-style RWBY animation worked for this crossover. They explained how this happened to the Justice League. The story even had the Justice League characters de-aged to be teens.
The story was set in Remnant. It was confusing because it seemed to be before the fall of the Beacon Academy. But there were flashes that told us it wasn’t. The confusion was a part of the storytelling of what was really going on and it was well done.
The fighting of the groups against the Grimm had the right amount of action. The Justice League had to figure out how to fight in this world and adapt to the changes in their abilities.
What I Did Not Like:
I didn’t love the helplessness of Jessica Cruz / Green Lantern when she couldn’t find her ring. It became a huge plot point but felt it was a bit too much. They did redeem her with it at the end but still.
Review:
This was a lot more fun than I expected. It isn’t the greatest animated movie I have seen but it was worth my time. It reminded me why I love RWBY so much. And there is a lot of Nora being Nora. It is worth checking out.
The movie is set up for a potential sequel, which is coming October 31, 2023. Watch for Part 2.

]]>Nathan Fillion who is known for his roles on Firefly, The Rookie, and Castle. He has voiced Green Lantern in different animated series but he usually voices Hal Jordan. Fillion has signed on to play the aggressive and jerk Green Lantern, Guy Gardner. This is a fun but obnoxious character and will be interesting in this new universe.
Fillion had already played a character in the DC Universe but we are not sure if that film will be in continuity with the new DC Studios universe. He played T.D.K. aka The Detachable Kid.
Fillion is not the only announced new actor and character for Superman: Legacy. Isabela Merced will star as Hawkgirl. Mister Terrific will be portrayed by Edi Gathegi. Just announced a few minutes ago, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho. This will be a hero-packed movie.
True. Welcome to the cast of Superman: Legacy: @NathanFillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, @isabelamerced as Hawkgirl, and @iamedigathegi as Mister Terrific. https://t.co/Z9JLq3jUxL
