Android App Review: Flipboard

About the App:
At the suggestion of my friend and Geeky KOOL contributor, Bryan, I loaded the Android App Flipboard (also for Apple Products–Apple’s iPad App of the Year in 2010). This App is a personalized magazine.  It allows one to read from several social networks, Instagram, newsreaders, and much more.

What I liked:
I like the options to chose what you want to pull to your Flipboard.  It is very much personalized.  I am pulling Facebook, Twitter, Google +, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google Reader but there are several other social networks/apps to chose from.  I am also pulling in the top stories from several news, sports, and entertainment sites.

I love the Cover Story feature. This gives you the top headlines, stories, and posts.  You don’t have to scroll through everything to find the important stories.

Along with the Cover Story section, you have a separate section for each area.  If I want to examine the just Facebook or sports stories, I can do that. They do put the top stories at the front but can scroll through all the information with no hassle

Using this App can be fun because you flip through your magazine by flipping the bottom of one page to the next. It works well on my phone and looks sensational on a tablet.

You can post directly to your social network from this app.  I don’t have to leave Flipboard to tweet something to my peeps.

What I did not Like:
I only have one complaint so far.  You can post to individual social networks from Flipboard but it will not allow you to post once and sync to all of your social networks at once. You can copy what you post to Google + and paste it into LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter if you like.  I would love to post it once and have the option to auto post to all of the other social network.

My Grade: A-
